  • 1.  Schedule Spectrum NCM Policy Repair

    Posted Feb 03, 2016 11:59 AM

We had been using Spectrum NCM to monitor Cisco IOS configuration for quite a while. We had configured over 50 NCM policies to monitor different device families and configurations. Whenever there were violations of policies, we would receive alert and we would need to manually trigger the "repair" configuration to make good the violation.

Some time there were several devices that required "repair", so we would like to schedule the violation repair during non-peak hour so as to reduce the risk of downtime due to changes.

However, it seems that Spectrum NCM could not SCHEDULE the "repair" work after violation was detected. To do scheduling, we will need to create a separate Upload task to complete the "repair".

Can we transit from "NCM Policy Violation" to "Scheduled Upload Task Creation" directly? Or is there an option to automatic schedule "repair" Upload task? Thanks.

I'm afraid, there ist no  chance today.

There is a "new" idea  from OlafS  from 2014 about this: NCM repair actions without confirmation .

    Hi ,

Have you tried enabling NCMAUTOREPAIR=TRUE in SetScript  present in <SPECROOT>/Notifier & run AlarmNotifier ?

    Hi Jaya,

No, we have not tried this. We have no idea what this parameter can do.

    1. Where to configure this parameter? alarmrc?

    2. What happen when this parameter is configured?

    Hi ,

The parameter "NCMAUTOREPAIR=TRUE" has to be uncommented in SetScript present in <SPECROOT>/Notifier folder  and run AlarmNotifier

It should automatically trigger repair  when a policy is violated.
