  • 1.  SDM Popups Don't Work On With Dual Monitors & IE 11

    Hello,

     

    All of our CASD Analysts have 2 monitors. When we use Internet Explorer 11 with SDM 12.9, popup windows are annoyingly displaying across both screens.

     

    Is anyone else experiencing this issue, or encountered this -> When Using 2 Monitors Fix SDM Popup Behaviour

     

    It would really benefit us if more dual monitor support was given for SDM, because using 2 monitors now seems to be the standard for us.

    I suspect that disabling CA SDM popups is not desirable either?

    I see 2 options for disabling popups, both with issues.

     

    The first being the setting within SDM (View -> Preferences -> Avoid Poups), this does not allow you to open multiple tickets at the same time.

     

    Secondly the option within Internet Explorer (Tools -> Internet Options -> General -> Tabs -> When a pop-up is encountered: -> Always open pop-ups in a new tab), this will apply to every website you visit not just SDM. I personally like this option, but not everyone does.

    I'm not sure if it's exactly SDM's fault.

     

    I've just experimented here with IE11 and Chrome: PopupTest 1 - test your popup killer software. I'm running Win 8 on two displays.

     

    Apparently Chrome is smart enough to render pop-ups on the same display on which the link is clicked, where IE simply doesn't care and always renders them on the primary display. Firefox doesn't care either.

    We are not allowed to use anything but Internet Explorer 11. I am extremely frustrated around the behavior of popups within SDM, when using dual monitors and Internet Explorer 11.

     

    All of our staff with analyst access have dual monitors, using chrome is not an answer for us. I have put more info about the problem we are experiencing in this discussion ->IE 11 Compatibility for ServiceDesk 12.9

     

    I logged support ticket 00010709 with CA regarding this in January 2015. The ultimate answer was:

     

    "..unfortunately until IE changes it's behavior and JS engine we can't do too much"

     

    Does anyone else out there share my frustration with this problem? I'm assuming it hasn't been fixed with the latest SDM release ?
