Facing issue while restarting Apache server after web agent installation and configuration.

  • 1.  Facing issue while restarting Apache server after web agent installation and configuration.

    Posted Nov 20, 2015 01:20 PM

    Hi,

         Policy Server Version  == 12.52 CR01

         Web Agent Version     ==  12.52 CR01 64 bit

I have installed & configured successfully web agent 12.52 CR01 on Windows Server 2012 R2 64 bit and Apache 2.4.X 64 bit. After successful installation and configuration i tried to restart the Apache server but it is showing below error.

The Apache service named  reported the following error:

    >>> httpd.exe: Syntax error on line 71 of C:/Apache2.4/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load C:/Program Files/CA/webagent/win64/bin/libmod_sm20.dll into server: The specified module could not be found.

I checked it multiple times in web agent bin folder and i didn't found any libmod_sm20.dll file in that folder and also not in my system.

In Siteminder matrices i have checked it web agent 12.52 supports apache 2.4.x and windows server 2012 R2

    ASF Apache 64-bit      2.4.x          Windows server ---- 2012 R2 (SP01 CR02), 2012 (SP1 CR1), 2008 R2 (SP1 CR1)

My Apache server is 2.4.X and why Web Agent is not generating mod_sm24.dll file in bin folder ????

In linux server if we installed web agent it will ask libmod_sm24.so file and if we installed web agent on windows server it will ask mod_sm24.dll file but here it is asking libmod_sm20.dll file instaed of mod_sm24.dll file???

Please let me know if you need any information.

    Hi Praveen,

If windows , it should NOT be libmod_smXX.dll it should just be mod_smXX.dll.

I can confirm that the webagent\bin folder contains all the following dll

    mod_sm20.dll

    mod_sm22.dll

    mod_sm24.dll

for  Apache2.0, Apache2.2, and Apache2.4 respectively , as far as r12.52Sp1CR1 Installer for Windows is concerned.

    Next Action

    =========

    1. Verify your web agent bin folder has mod_sm24.dll

    2. Change httpd.conf to refer to mod_sm24.dll instead of libmod_sm24.dll

    Hi Ujwol,

Below error i found in my CA_SiteMinder_Web_Agent_Configuration_Install_xx_xx_2015_17_07_51.log

    Installation: Successful with errors.

    133 Successes

    0 Warnings

    1 NonFatalErrors

    0 FatalErrors

    Custom Action:            com.netegrity.brlib.utilities.webservers.GetIISWebServerList

                              Status: ERROR

Additional Notes: ERROR -     class com.netegrity.brlib.utilities.webservers.GetIISWebServerList.install() runtime exception:

But in my current config instead of mod_smXX.dll file apache server is asking libmod_smXX.dll file. I checked the webagent\bin folder and i didn't find mod_smXX.dll and libmod_smXX.dll file. My current apache version is 2.4.X and may be some misconfig or some reason it is not generating mod_smXX.dll file

In my currrent webagent\bin folder below dll files are there

    mod_sm20.dll

    mod_sm22.dll

and there is no mod_sm24.dll file.

My current policy server version is 12.52 CR01 and 12.52 CR01suuports windows 2012 R2 and Apache 2.4X vesrion and i checked these in CA support matrices.

12.52 CR01 policy server and 12.52 CR01 web agent supporing Apache2.0 and Apache2.2 web servers. are installed on linux servers not on windows servers.

    Next Action

    ===========

    1. Verify your web agent bin folder has mod_sm24.dll

verified there is no mod_sm24.dll file

    2. Change httpd.conf to refer to mod_sm24.dll instead of libmod_sm24.dll

Thers is no mod_sm24.dll file in webagent\bin folder

    Thanks,

    Praveen.

There is NO r12.52 CR1 release for SiteMinder Web Agent.

Can you double check your agent version ?

    Is it r12.52 SP1 CR1?

Also, please provide the name of the installer binary that was used to install the agent.

    Hi Praveen,

That seems to be the problem.

    You should be downloading R12.52SP01 CR01 not 12.52 CR01

As you can see below , 12.52CR1 was not released. I guess you probably have r12.52 base release.

    Hi Ujwal,

But my policy server version is 12.52 CR01 and it won't support 12.52 SP1 CR01.

FYI i have installed 12.52 SP01 CR01 web agent on Apache 2.4.x server and i can't find the module mod_sm24.dll in webagent\bin folder and

Apache 2.4 fails to start with the same errors as mentioned earlier.

Pleas let me know which version web agent i have to use for below requirement??

              Winodws 2012 R2

              Apache 2.4.x

              Policy server version = 12.52 CR1

    Thanks,

    Praveen.

    Hi Ujwal,

Based on our current PS version web agent 12.51 CR6 supports the client requirement (windows server 2012 R2 and Apache server 2.4.x).

User have installed the 12.51 CR6 web agent on windows server 2012 R2 and Apache server 2.4.x and now it is showing mod_sm24.dll file.User

restarted the Apache server and after that it is restarting automatically for every second. Web agent log is not created. Event viewer log is not showing any error.

After disabling the web agent Apache server is running fine.

    Thanks,

    Praveen.

    Hi Praveen,

    • Check Apache Error Logs.
    • Capture process monitor logs (Process Monitor ) and review for any errors.

    Hi Steve,

         http://www.ca.com/us/support/ca-support-online/product-content/knowledgebase-articles/tec1774194.aspx

Follow the steps below to resolve the error:

    1. If the Visual Studio is present locally, open Visual Studio command prompt, cd to Apache 2.4 Install Directory/bin and execute  ‘editbin /STACK:524288 httpd.exe
    2. If Visual Studio is present remotely at another server, copy httpd.exe from Apache 2.4 Install Directory/bin to that machine, cd to the location copied to in Visual Studio and got command Prompt and execute ‘editbin /STACK:524288 httpd.exe

Copy the httpd.exe back to the bin folder on Apache 2.4 Server Machine

NOTE:   Apache WebServer should be down during this operation.

Location of Visual Studio Command Prompt is  All Programs >  Microsoft Visual Studio 20xx > Visual Studio Tools > Visual Studio x64 Win64 Command Prompt

We had followed the above mentioned steps to resolve the issue after that application team has restarted the server and web agent up and running fine.

Please let us know if you need any information.

    Thanks,

    Praveen.

    Ujwol,

To clarify my issue, Apache won't start because the mod_sm24.dll file is missing.  It looks as though a patch was released to address this situation.  I am running Apache 2.4.18 on Windows 2012 R2.  Do you know the RS number I can use in order to download the missing dll?

    Thanks!

    Hi Steve,

    Thanks for clarifying your issue.

You can download 12.51CR6 from here:

    https://support.ca.com/irj/portal/anonymous/redirArticles?reqPage=search&searchID=RS81486

However, the latest CR is CR8 for 12.51. In case you want to go with the latest CR, here is the link for same:
