If when installing 12.6 the jre version that gets installed into C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\SharedComponents\JRE\ is 1.6.0_23

How do I upgrade this to 1.7, as there is no java app in control panel to upgrade the version.

    Hi,

as presteps you need to apply patch described here: https://support.ca.com/phpdocs/0/8165/8165_r126_CertMatrix.pdf

Here is an instruction how to perform update : Install and Configure JRE 1.8.0_45 - CA Service Management - 14.1 - CA Technologies Documentation

Please note, version described in document is 1.8, but steps will be same for 1.7,  all you need is to define correct folder path in NX.env.

Basing on my own experience obtained here: tomcat version question, I'll recommend you to plan to update to a newer version of CA SDM

    Regards,

    cdtj

In addition of cdtj and until you upgrade to later release of  SDM...

not 100% sure of the last cert matrix for 12.6 but will recommend to go to 1.8 vs 1.7 that have known security hole.

I don't have any 12.6 in house anymore but all our 12.7, 12.9 and 14.x are running on 1.8

Much appreciated, i will look into that, awesome....  The reason I need to upgrade the Java Version is we want to Disabled cryptographic protocols SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 and leave only TLS 1.2 available for accessing the application.  Currently we have iis 7.5 installed on Win 2008 R2 servers with the app running the 1.6 java version.  When we disabled the protocols the app started up with no issues and could talk to the secondaries, however we couldn't through any browser log into the application.  Investigations lead me to believe Java Versions of 1.7 and higher were needed to then be able to run with only TLS 1.2.

When I click on https://docops.ca.com/ca-service-management/14-1/en/impl… I get 404 not found.  Does the link still work for you?

One last question regarding the install of the java, just to cement my understanding.  The link refers to <drive>:\<install_directory>\CA\SC\JRE\1.8.45 as the option for the destination folder.  Now currently i have a jre of 1.6.0_23 which I noticed is installed in both C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\SC\JRE\ and C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\SharedComponents\JRE but the NX.env file refers to @NX_JRE_INSTALL_DIR=C:/Program Files (x86)/CA/SC/JRE/1.6.0_23.  I take it I still continue to push the jre 1.7 version into C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\SC\JRE\

    Hi Simon,

Yes, install the JRE to C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\SC\JRE\1.7.x_xx and then update the NX.env parameter @NX_JRE_INSTALL_DIR= to point to this folder.

    Hope this helps,

    Gordon.
