    Hello,

I am having trouble installing and configuring the Wily APM Web Server monitor. It appears that I have it installed on the EM, but I can't locate the installer for the Agent machine. How is this process completed?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

There are no Agents for the WebServer powerpack, since it remotely polls your web servers, take a look at the config files, they're fairly straightforward.

Please let us know if the install instructions in the CA Application Performance Management for Web Servers Guide were incomplete or confusing.

What version of APM are you using?

    Folks,

We are having some issues with the PowerPack for Web Servers as well. I did run the EM installer successfully. After I install the Agent Installer, I cannot see the PPWebServersHome dir.

    Thanks,

PPWS is not installed with the EM. You need to download and use the Standalone PP agent installer.

Download the archive called "CA Introscope Agent Installers r9 9.1.x.x". Inside the tarball is the archive for "StandaloneAgentPPInstaller9.1.x.x". Extract the agent installer you need (Win or *nix) and run according to instructions. You'll see the option to install the PPWS agent.

    Hi Hiko,

Thanks for the quick response. We are currently on version 9.0.7.2.

I did download the archive IntroscopeAgentInstaller9.0.7.2unix.tar and ran it according to the instructions, but I am seeing only these options and cannot find PPWS :(!

Select Agent Extensions and Power Packs
    ---------------------------------------

Select the Agent extensions and Power Packs you want to enable during this install. (If you don't select any, Agent extension files and Power Packs will still be installed in the examples folder. You may manually enable it later by copying files to ext folder.)

    1- SOA Performance Management
2- SOA Extension For Tibco Business Works
3- SOA Extension For webMethods Integration Server
4- Power Pack For SiteMinder Web Access Manager
5- Power Pack For WebSphere MQ Connectors and Messaging System

ENTER A COMMA-SEPARATED LIST OF NUMBERS REPRESENTING THE DESIRED CHOICES, OR
PRESS <ENTER> TO ACCEPT THE DEFAULT:

    Thanks,

    Kiran,
That is not the Standalone Agent PP Installer. The archive should have a name like IntroscopeStandalonePowerPackInstaller9.0.7.1unix.tar or IntroscopeStandalonePowerPackInstaller9.0.7.1.windows.zip.

You need to download this archive and extract out the Standalone Agent PP Installer: ISCP_AG_INST9072.zip

    Hiko,

That is exactly the one that I am using right now "ISCP_AG_INST9072". But I was using the wrong installer.

Found the right one hiding all the way down after I extracted the file "IntroscopeStandalonePowerPackInstaller9.0.7.2unix".

Thank you Sir :)! Will keep you posted about the PowerPack Stuff.

    Thanks,

    Rodney,
Did my last resolve this question for you also? You just need to download the Agent installer (not non-installer) archive, extract out the standalone powerpack installer for the OS you want, and run the installer.

Don't forget to mark the thread resolved when you've verified your installation.

    Hi Hiko,

I am currently involved in an APM POC. The web servers are in the DMZ zone and the APP servers are in the LAN zone. Upon installation of PP-Agents into web servers.
The agents are unable to connect to the EM machine that rests in the LAN zone. Is there a workaround for this problem? The clients are unable to open up an out-going
port from DMZ to LAN zone (5001) as a security measure. Is there a way to remote-poll the web server monitoring? I have enabled http://localhost/server-status on each web server.

    APM version: 9.5
Web servers: IBM HTTP Server (Apache based)
    Platform: Java

    Thanks,
    Nick Jain

Let them know that you can open secure tunnels between the agent and the EM.
Even still, there is no customer data being transmitted between the agent and EM.

You need to follow the same instructions I gave to the original poster, but for your APM version.

    Hi SergioMorales

Will I be able to view historical data when I upgrade for IA,as per my view another node will be created upon installation of IA and there will be no relation with one month old data am I correct?

if not how I can get the latest release of webserver powerpack.

    Thanks

You are correct, the metrics will be reported under a different node. The same applies to the oracle monitor.

I am afraid, ,you will need to go and adjust your management module (dashboards/alerts) etc with the new metric paths

I have asked the PM and Doc team to include this side effect as "Known Issues"  in docops and added comment to this page:

Even it is not a emediate help to your problem maybe for a longterm it would be interesting to know about your problems, why you need to monitor your webserver, and what you would like to be different in the future:

This is partialy what i try to address in Idea Generation: PHP and Web Server Monitoring seems neglected for different reasons, this powerpack was created at some point and then got neglected, which is why we now face diffrent type of challanges.

If you have time it would be great if you could give some feedback.
