  • 1.  CA PPM Pages not loading at the top of the page - loading in the middle instead

General and Resource Planning pages are appearing in the middle of the page instead of at the top of the page.  What is happening is that to get to the top of the page I have to scroll up.  I would expect that the page would appear with the scroll bar at the top.

Sounds a bit odd, have you tried a different browser? (just to rule it out!)

Would help if you could post the version of the app and browser you're using.

Also I assume this impacts just you, not all your users. If the latter raise this with support.

Here's some ideas on what it could be:

    • Browser extensions
    • Custom UI theme experiments
    • Corrupted cache
    • Badly coded custom html portlets

Interesting – yes we have tried both Chrome and IE even though our standard browser is IE.  We are currently on CA PPM version 14.3 and using is as a hosted solution.  This actually does impact all of our users and I have a ticket opened with CA Support but the user working on the issue from the CA side suggested that I post something in the communities to see if anyone else has seen this behavior and what their solution was.

I will try to clear the cache on the CA side because that is actually something we haven’t really tried.  I know it cannot be an add on because I we can recreate the issue with IE loaded with no add ons.

Regarding the UI themes this repeats itself in all UI themes.

    Thanks for your help.

    Thank You

Has it "always" behaved like this, or is it something that just "suddenly" started happening one day?

If the latter, then I'd be stopping my app service(s), getting a cup of coffee, then restarting my app service(s) to see if that fixed it. Since you are hosted, that would be something you'd have to ask the SAAS provider to do for you. And if that fixed it, I'd just put it down to experience and move on...

If the former, then I have no idea - sorry.

    ^ exactly.

Clear caches / restart browser(s) / restart application service(s) / restart the actual server(s) ; fixes most "odd behaviour" it seems.

TuanTran has an excellent Tuesday Tip - CA PPM Tuesday Tip: How to ensure data is displayed properly in the browser. In IE, that step c of clicking "view files", selecting all and deleting everything found has been the magic fix for us.

DAVIDDARNLEY82305801 - the 'tell' for us if we're experiencing something client side or server side is to go to (or have the user go to) the application in the browser and observe the error. Have them close the browser, and if Chrome goto Incognito Mode or if Internet Explorer In-Private browsing. These modes bypass the cache. Have them go back to the app and attempt to reproduce what they've previously observed. If all is well in these modes the problem is client side in the user's browser cache.

am1 - when turning it off an on again doesn't work - I tell them to STOP IT.
