  • 1.  Can we find Concurrent users of an application at any time using CA APM?

    We are looking to find the number of concurrent users accessing application which we are monitoring using Agent based and also using CEM. Is there a way to find the Concurrent users ?

    I will answer the CEM part. You have an overall session usage talked about here. This is not per application

    There are various reports available in CEM and RTTM (after 9.7) that support user/user groups.

    It will depend on whether the web/app server provides those metrics.
    From the app server, we tend to get those from JMX or WMI/PerfMon. Apache-based web servers will provide that info in the extended info stats page, while IIS provides them via WMI/PerfMon.

    You'll want to take a look at the IIS PerfMon counters as Sergio suggests.

    Hi Hal,

    Actually we have many applications(Sharepoint and SAP) to monitor using CA APM. The requirement is to find the number of concurrent users accessing the application. Using CEM or Introscope(Agent based) monitoring, how can we configure the concurrent users active on the application either with WMI/perfmon or any other way at any time? Pls help.

    Hi Chandrasekhar:

    You may likely need a case for a detailed answer. For CEM, whether SAP or Sharepoint or some other application, my answer above would still apply. CEM would not be involved with WMI or perfmon. I have let already the APM Support Team know there was an outstanding question. Perhaps musma03 or SergioMorales or Hiko_Davis can add more on the Introscope side.

    Hi Sergio,

     

    According to the information you provided, App/web server will give the concurrent users. We will get metrics of App server by deploying the agent. How can we get the metrics for the respective web server?
