  • 1.  Percentage% issue in UtilizationOut

    Hi,

I am having an issue with the percentage stats for UtilizationOut for one particular interface only. You can see in my screen shot, the percentage is through the roof, it's like 700% and at some times it's even at 10,000%

These interface stats are all from the SNMPCOLLECTOR probe, and all the interfaces are on the same template, so they are on the same settings.

All the other interfaces are fine, Ethernet / port-channel1 / Vlan804 , they're all fine.

Any idea what I might have done wrong? Let me know if you want to see my settings.

Could this be a system limitation around "tunnel" interface?

Check if the interface speed reported in UIM for this specific interface is correct as set on the device . May be the interface speed reported in UIM is much less than what is set on the device . In this case you might need to override the speed for this specific interface in snmpcollector

Sorry Phani, might sound like a dumb question...Where can I check the interface speed in UIM ? I did wonder about that before

    (...im new to UIM)

Check here under Interfaces tab in USM against the device

    Hi Phani,

I am actually the same guy from this question

I believe you're in this thread too

UMP - METRICS tab vs INTERFACES tab

    My INTERFACES tab isn't working

    Ok

In the mean time try to use some mib browser tool to query this device which has the issue for the ifSpeed variable and see what value is returned and compare with the one set on your device to see if it's the same

Also in the snmpcollector at the interface level there are variables for utilization in bytes or kb turn them on for this device for verification and see what value is reported and do some comparisons

I remember there is a variable for ifSpeed also (may be ) you can turn it on and check what values are being returned

The interface speed can be manually set.

snmpcollector Configure Monitoring with the Probe Configuration GUI - CA Unified Infrastructure Management Probes - CA T…

    (Optional) Change Interface Speeds

You can change the interface speed of a device. Devices with virtual interfaces can report incorrect interface speeds. If you notice a discrepancy with your metric calculations, contact your network administrator to determine the correct override values.

    1. Go to snmpcollector > Profiles > profile name > device name > Interface > interface name.
    2. In the details pane, go to the Interface Speed Override section.
    3. Enter an interface speed in bits per second for the speed out and speed in overrides.
    4. Click Save.

Hi Everyone, Thanks for all the suggestions. Yea it helped me narrowed down the issue. The speed of the tunnel was set to AUTO on the device, and then giving ridiculous percentage (because the speed was extremely low).

We'll either hardcode the speed on the tunnel, or use the Speed Override in SNMPCOLLECTOR to get round this.
