    Hi All,

Is there anyway to collect PST file details in DSM reporter? I tried by giving default location as well as system drive but getting blank output.

    Regards,

    Mohd

Have you enabled the File scan for PST files under the collect tasks and have your engine collecting the data?

It was not enabled for pst files.

I have included *.pst now it started collecting data.

    Thanks for the help.

You want to be careful if you enable file scan.  The data base will become huge.  What are you actually looking for. If you are looking for a specific file or files you may be better off creating a mif file.  It will be less intensive on the agent and not dramatically  increase the size of the db.

Richard - with a file like a PST where you will more than likely not have more than a handful per device (obviously dependent on environment size), what sort of DB growth size would you be looking at, as a rough guide?

If you carefully configure file scan to only look for pst then there will not be that much but very often when you enable file scan one does not limit its collection to only pst.  In that case the db gets huge.  On a test system with minimal applications installed file scan resulted in 2000 records.  Expand that to 10k machines. You will have 200,000 records.  Each record is 4096 bytes.  So a rough calculation makes it 1 gig in size just for files scan data.
