  • 1.  How are baselines in CEM calculated?

    Posted Nov 29, 2016 03:45 AM

    Hi,

We have an Average Response Time SLA as 2 secs, and when I check in CEM>>Administration>>Specifications>>Baselines for slow time it is showing 40 secs. And the SLA condition is around 0.435 - 0.532 secs and is not breached as per AVG Time SLA of 2 secs.

I referred a tec doc :  Knowledge Base Articles

I did not understand what doc says, can someone help me in understanding the same??

    Thanks,

    Chandrasekhar.

    Hi Hal,

Thank you for the document, that really helps. But, please let me know if the Avg response time Values at Business service level is varying between  0.435 - 0.532 secs. Is it normal when compared to Baseline values which is 30 secs?

    Thanks,

    Chandrasekhar.

Is it possible that a baseline can be higher than the average? Yes, depending on the values. Is it common, from what I recall , it is fairly common . Asking Hiko_Davis JMertin   wooan07  @cohco01 to weigh in.

    Thanks

It is usually higher than the Average. From a mathematical point of view, the more data you have, the more obvious it will become.

The baseline is computed by taking the max value found in the Upper Baseline graph (75% tro 95%), and to that value we add 20% - if that max value we found is 25seconds, adding 20% to it gives 25*1.2=30seconds.

And that is what we will use.

Keep in mind that the Baseline is here to identify issues with the WebSite, based on "known" data. So we want to catch the exceptions here.
