Guys, we use DSM Explorer on our Windows 10 machines. As such, we have had to deploy agent 12.9.0.338 and patch R086776. This is a pain as if you ever need to repair an agent you need to re-apply the patch as the repair overwrites the osconfig.xml file. So, can the R14 agents and R14 DSM Explorer work in a 12.9 DM/SS infrastructure? Any compatibility matrix around this? 

R14 Agents should function with 12.9 SS/DM, and the R14 Explorer should work just fine. I don’t believe there is any official documentation to that effect however. There was a push a few years back to make the Agents compatible with back-level SS/DM because of issues like these, and I believe that is still the case.

If you are concerned about it, set up a VM desktop or use a test system as a guinea pig.
