  • 1.  Approval process via email?

    Posted Jan 05, 2017 03:29 AM

When a user goes into the the service catalog to approve requests, it is not intuitive or user friendly. They currently have to go to 'Perform Action' then select 'Approved' on each item then save. i.e. 3 clicks
Is there  a way to implement the approval proccess, for example using ITPAM, directly via e-mail (with approve and deny buttons or links) ?

    Regards

    Dario

    Good Morning Dario.

There is a way to accomplish this, yes.
I'll attach a document "SLCM_CA Service Catalog Direct Email Setup.docx" for you to get you started.

You can also check the SM14.1 wiki pages for further details:

Thanks and kind regards, Louis van Amelsfort.

Thanks for the document, I will test it in the coming days. Is there a way to implement it directly with an ITPAM process? Thanks

    Good Afternoon Dario.

From within the link as provided earlier, for this step 3:

    3. On the Mail Trigger dialog, General Properties tab, complete the fields as appropriate.
    Default Trigger Process (Orchestrator only)
Specifies how to handle emails that have invalid XML content in the message body or attachment.
    Values:
    * Blank - Ignore the emails with no valid XML trigger content.
    * The full path of the process that the Domain Orchestrator is to start. (One default process can be defined for each Orchestrator.)

Choose the 2nd option: full path > click the spyglass and select 'ca-slcm/emailapproval'.

As shown in the document I attached.

    Thanks and kind regards, Louis.

    Dear all,

Maybe I have not explained well, I would like to send to the approver an email with a link (or a button) to approve the request (with one click) not that ITPAM processes the e-email, how can it be configured?

    Good Afternoon Dario.

In stead of 'MAIL_TO', you can use the blow:

    <br><br><a href='$UPDATE_STATUS_LINK=HTTP|800|R$'>Approve Request</a> without further review.

When you hit that link from within the email message, it will approve the request through a new browser-tab opening.

Thanks and kind regards, Louis van Amelsfort.

Thanks, In this case  is it not necessary the itpam process?

We would like to activate the approval process, we selected 'Driven Workflow Approval Process' and changed the event as described in the document, after submited the request,   two  processes starts ('Appoval'. 'Policy Approval') but they remain pending, does not seem to assign to the supervisor, do you have 10 minutes for a webex and help us to configure the approval standards or there is a document to explain better ?

    Good Afternoon Dario.

The latest comment is based on sc/admin/era.... without a PAM process to be used.

Should you need a more formal approach of L1 assistance, then it better you open a standard case through CA Support Online(CSO).

Thanks in advance for your understanding and kind regards, Louis.
