WebView Log - Warning Message

  • 1.  WebView Log - Warning Message

    Posted Jan 11, 2017 04:06 PM

    Hi,

We are currently running APM 10.3 on RHEL 6.7 and have noticed the below warning in our WebView logs.

[WARN] [WebView] Failure due to validate XSRF token.

1.) What does the message mean / what is it referring to?

2.) Does this affect the performance of WebView? the whole cluster?

3.) How do you go about correcting this issue?

    Thank you,

    Sam

    Hi Sam,

These messages usually relate to stale browser sessions

They can occur if WebView is restarted and a user tries to use an existing webview browser session which is then invalidated. After the warning the user should then be able to login and there should be no other adverse impact.

So normally they would be seen in the log not long after a WebView restart - does that match what you are seeing?

Have you had any complaints from users?

    Thanks

    Lynn

    Dear Sam:

IS this just about "what is this error?" or something else is driving your questions. Please let us know the details. Is this related to Webview restarts or happens at other times? Do Webview logs in Debug/verbose give any additional information?

    Thanks

    Hi Lynn and Hallett,

We restarted the WebView and noticed the warning after the restart. However a few hours after the restart the warning has not stopped populating in the logs. Checking the logs this morning, it is still populating. We have not received any complaints from users. Additionally looking at the WebView.out file an error is populating that file about an invalid RPC /XSRF token as well.

Is there a known solution for this?

    Thank you,

    Sam

    Dear Samantha:

There is a KB on this that apparently needs an update. Are your users using the same browser sessions or new ones each time? If the latter, it should go away.

    https://www.ca.com/us/services-support/ca-support/ca-support-online/knowledge-base-articles.tec1224534.html

After the user logs in again a new token is created and Webview will function normally. The issue can be avoided entirely if user uses a new browser session. Either way, there is no functionality loss caused by the error and it can be safely ignored. This issue is permanently addressed in APM 10.1.

Looking in Team Center is displaying blank screen with Error   I see the following with DEBUG logs (Something I mentioned above as a task to do) Can you set Webview log in debug for a short time and report back any lines before the XSRF warning?

8/22/16 10:18:41.607 AM MYT [DEBUG] [WebView] CA-APM Cookie is NULL.

8/22/16 10:18:45.983 AM MYT [WARN] [WebView] Failure due to validate XSRF token.

What browser are you using? Is it HTML5 compliant?

Are you using any browser extensions/plugins which may cause the page to not render properly?

    Lynn_Williams anything to add?

    Thanks

As no users have reported any problems it looks like a log impact message only.

I think it would  be worth clearing the WebView cache when WebView is next restarted. Steps to do that are in this KB::

How can Webview Cache be cleared?

Lynn_Williams - that link above you provided is not going anywhere, seems like a dead link.

    Manish:

Over the weekend, we migrated to a new knowledge management system. KDs will have a new URL format with the KD title included. However, the old links should work.

    Thanks

This just happened to me today. But having this info helps me understand why.

    Thanks

    Hi Manish,

    Thanks for highlighting this.

The KB TEC614226 for the WebView cache clearing has been retired which is why the redirect to the new URL mentioned by Hal failed. It was replaced with TEC1205421

    https://support.ca.com/us/knowledge-base-articles.TEC1205421.html

    redirects to:
