  • 1.  DB2 Data Source

    Hi Community,

We are hoping to be able to create data objects using DB2 data sources. Do you know if it's possible to load additional database drivers into catalog for use in data objects? Out of the box box all are able to use are sql server, Oracle, and ingress.

    Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

    Good Morning Grant.

As per your own findings, from a CA Service Catalog perspective, the data source is indeed limited to ootb selections: sql server, Oracle and ingres.

Perhaps other community members do have experience with and possible have implemented a DB2-connection.
Priliminary research did not reveal a possible solution for this.

Thanks and kind regards, Louis van Amelsfort.

    Thank you Louis,

I found this note in the wiki.

Using the Query Builder, you can create a database connection definition that can use JDBC or an existing ODBC data source on the Catalog Component server. For ODBC, administrators must define this data source identically on each Catalog Component computer in your implementation. This requirement does not apply to JDBC. Therefore, we recommend JDBC.

Manage Data Objects - CA Service Management - 14.1 - CA Technologies Documentation

It sounds like all we need to do is load the db2 odbc drivers onto the Service Catalog servers and then use the Define Data Source wizard to setup the data object.

Do you know if Type is ignored when ODBC is selected?

    Hi Grant,

Lots of customers asked that in the past . I tried to download the  db2 driver and use it replace the Ingres driver to see if it can work as a workaround temporarily here  . But it didn’t work out . and I discussed it with our DEV group and it has to be enhancement request .....

So hopefully our DEV can take it into consideration to implement  the    DB2 support  in  report data object .

    Thanks, jing

Thank you Jing, is there an existing enhancement request for this idea?  I didn't see one posted in the community.

    Hi Grant ,

Although there is high demand for it ,  but looks like no one formally created an idea for it yet  .

So I just created an idea about  it :

    https://communities.ca.com/ideas/235735180

Could you please click the link about it and vote it so that this idea can get enough votes that our DEV will take it into consideration and implement the DB2 support  in catalog's Data Object .

    Thanks, jing
