Is there a way to run a batch job to print / save the record layout?

    Hi John

I'm from L1 support for CA File Master Plus.  Just clarifying that you are asking if there is a special utility that would exist especially for printing a Record Layout?

No, there is not at this time, but I do see that someone has asked for this and it is an Enhancement Request.  For the time being you will need to use the PRINT option of CAWABATC or any other printing utility of your choice.

Please let know if you have anything else for this question.  Thanks!

    Hi John,

Also, in foreground CA File Master Plus, there is a FMPRINT command from the Layout feature.  Have you Tried that?

We have a job that utilizes another utility to print the copybook layout, then the job massages the layout to create a FILE description for Easytrieve. We can use FMPRINT as a workaround, but we'd really like to be able to just submit the job.

(It does seem that Easytrieve should have the ability to consume COBOL copybooks, but Easytrieve is not my monkey.)

Easytrieve has a macro CBLCNVRT that converts COBOL definitions to Easytrieve, but I can't find where it is documented in the Easytrieve 11.x manual. Nor any of the other product-provided macros for that matter.

    Hi Everyone!

Michael is very correct in that the CA Easytrieve product does have a CBLCNVRT macro.  You will find the documentation in your CBAAMAC library for release 11.6 in the CBLCNVRD member.  I hope that this helps!

Please take care and Best Regards!

We need ability to print cobol layouts via batch job. We have parsers that read marble's dcd iv cobol layouts to not only produce easytrev layouts; but dynamically builds rexx logic to extract fields based on current record layout. If layout changes, rexx code will automatically be adjusted. Do NOT want manual process of having to use tso/ispf to create the layout.
