I have one question I would like to direct first to the CA folks present. Has anyone at CA looked at CMMT at all? I'd certainly welcome feedback about the program or any of the modifications Steve and I have made to it.

I tried to find out from Jan Rabaut if any of the shops in Europe are using it and didn't hear back. I'd love to hear from anyone that has tried it or is an older user that has looked at the modifications.

John - if you check out the number of "views" for your CMMT thread at CA Communities - you will see that there is a lot of interest in CMMT. Unfortunately we can not tell you who or where  the interest has come from !

    Hello All,

Today I'll be uploading a source update here today, it's a minor correction/enhancement to the R1 screen and a few other clean-up type changes I made that really don't result in run-time type changes.   I've found one other option on LT and PT screens where I noticed DCMT D LT shows CCI and TCP/IP terminals in "suspended" status and am able to also pick that up and display it.  I plan to release that later and at this time would like to hear from anyone that has any further ideas, suggestions, bug reports, etc. as I may be unable to make further changes by the end of the year.  The next update could well be my last.  I have the release recognition mechanisms set to accept the future to at least try to keep the program running although it's possible some future control block changes could present some issues, most likely to sub-modules.

Well the last 6 years working on the CMMT/XOMT has gone by pretty fast.  I've learned a lot of things working on this and Steve Franzon's help early on was very beneficial along with his testing in a slightly different environment.  Chuck Hardee also was a good sounding board for me on some ideas and his suggestions about lessening dependencies on base registers is something I toyed with recently on a few of the larger modules, although I haven't really finished the work in moving the variables around and addressing some instructions that cannot be handled by IEABRCX, but the ground work is at least in place should it be needed later.  I was able to make the last enhancements fit by reducing the patch space allocation which is not likely to be needed, at least not in the quantity originally defined.

I remember an old quote from the IDMS-L a good while back.  "Tell me when the 70s are over and I'll stop coding in assembler".

    All the Best,

    John

    Hi John,

Nearest I can tell no one here at CA has looked at this...   And I've been reminded that it may not be a good idea for us to do so, as (in reading a competing public license software product) it could compromise our ability to enhance our own Perfmon product in the future.

    Hi Dave,

I had checked with John S. back when this thread first was posted and he told me no-one at CA had looked at it at that time.  I really don't see it as anything competing, but see your point to some extent.  Some overlap with PMRM but mostly it is more like a Menu Mode option for DCMT with some unique twists.  Kind of similar to CSMT vs. CEMT.  All the shops I've been in that used CMMT also had Perfmon.  A few things that go after some of the newer items in the software I find helpful but I guess I'm biased.  I just put the update on this old thread because it wasn't as long as some of the other older threads.  Even within PMRM, Perfmon has a number of things very unique to it and I also find PMIM (online part as well as reports) and the PMAM reports indispensable.  It's all good.
