    vmware metrics are detailed here:

vmware Metrics - CA Unified Infrastructure Management Probes - CA Technologies Documentation

    temperature is not listed.

Maybe at the system level via snmpcollector.

This site has the list of device vendors and their metrics supported.

Yes David, but ideally probe must be designed to capture all these metrics,So for these same esx servers we need to enable two level of monitoring (Probe+SNMP)which makes the admin effort drastic. Minimal level of configuration must be placed  .Share your suggestions too.

yes but then that moves this into the 'idea' realm for vmware to get temperature, so there is no idea if/when it will be implemented.

In older Version there was an undocumentet option to enable the Hardware Sensors inside the the VMWAre probe configuration, not sure that this work today also (and that I can publish it).

SNMPcollector probe you can use only if you had remoteboards from HP and newer one from Fujtsu,  iRMC S4, used in production.

In additional you can use the CIM probe, but here I don´t had so muc experiance.

IPMI will also be a posibility if you use the ecoMeter Probe for Monitoring your DCIM stuff.

@David: per default ESXi Server use only CIM Provider to monitor the hardware. Technical it is not a problem to collect these sensors too with the probe (and for me it is a must have) as the systemedge AIM do it.

To monitor the temperature of the ESX hosts running vmware use the cisco _ucs probe.

Every temp if available using that probe.
