DX Application Performance Management

I need to merge the smartstor DBs belonging to 10 collector into 1 smartstor.

This is a migrated environment, that is not collecting data anymore.

The total amount of data for all the smartstor DBs is about 300 GB that I want to consolidate into only 1 smartstor.

Is there any limit which I must take into account?

Another question is about to disable the data aging on EM to preserve all the data.

Any other suggestion is appreciate.

    I am changing this to a discussion since is getting more into best practices. You didn't mention what release you migrated from and to. Please share. If this is APM 10.5.x, then you may wish to review Knowledge Docs on the merge tool/remove metric.

Hello Antonello,

I believe you are trying to configure an offline EM standalone to be used for query historical data only.
Here are my recommendations:

1) Your metadata are more probably huge, make sure you allocate enough memory, open the EM_HOME/tools/SmartStorTools.bat/sh and adjust -Xmx, otherwise, you will run in OOM issues.

2) Open the EM_HOME/config/IntroscopeEnterpriseManager.properties, change tiers age to 999999 days (max limit limit of 1,000,000 days for any tier). If you don't do this step the EM will most probably delete the "old" data or reperiodize data you don't want.

3) After merging the data directories you will not be able to see the data in the investigator, don't forget to mount the Agents

4) I strongly suggest you also to delete any unnecessary metrics, even when this EM will be for query purposes only, you are expecting queries result to be fast and this might not be the case because the EM will be using a lot of resources just to through the huge metadata file, see also: 10.5.2 Missing Metrics with Data 

5) Whenever possible try to use webview instead of workstation.
