In order to move stories between columns on the kanban board I can do 1 of 2 things:

- Drag and drop the story in the new column. However this has the undesired result of changing the overall ranking of the story.

- Expose the state as a drop down on the story and then select a new state. This preserves the overall ranking but the story stays 'done' (ie it has the green tick) from the previous column.

In both situations the story remains assigned to whoever it was previously assigned to.

It would, IMHO, be a significant improvement if the stories could have a couple of buttons on them which would allow you to move the story to the next (or previous) column and at the same time removed the 'done' status and assigned it to you. If these buttons were only visible when the story was 'done', then it would promote the correct kanban workflow of marking a story as done and then someone can 'pull' it by moving it across the board to the next column, and assigning themselves to the ticket.

I just test this and surprised why moving to next column change the overall ranking!! I think this is a defect and should be fixed.

Hi Sam! As an update, we're currently working on improving our Kanban experience, and this is one of the things we'd like to improve. Our current plan is that moving cards across columns will not change the rank, but moving a card within a column will change the rank. I am going to post this as an idea. On kanban board can we set the color of the card based on criteria. Ex: If the priority is high show color as red. Currently, all color setup is manual and it is difficult to implement and instruct everyone to change a color for a large team.
