In case you missed my post last week (Coming Soon: The NEW CA Mainframe Communities ) I wanted to follow up and share more details about some of the changes coming to CA's mainframe communities that will affect the CA Endevor Community.

One of the most important changes we'll be making to the CA Mainframe community landscape is the creation of a new CA Mainframe DevOps Community in early December. CA Endevor, along with several products from our CA Mainframe Application Quality & Testing Tools and a couple from the CA Mainframe Community will populate this new community.

The CA Endevor team and I have discussed this move with the two CA Champions in this community -- SteveBlackett and PhilGineo -- and I think they are looking forward to it as well. It was actually their suggestion to include CA PDSMAN and CA JCLCheck in the new CA Mainframe DevOps Community -- so we're going to do that, too!

You'll start seeing some changes the last week of November. As I'm making them, I'll also make sure that I offer tips and tricks so that you can get the most out of the CA Communities possible. The plan is to have all of the changes made by early December. I'll keep you informed if that changes too.

And, as always, if you have any questions, please just let me know!

    I think I need a little clarification....

Are you saying Endevor will be part of the DevOps community but still uniquely identified as having it's own string? Or are you saying Endevor issues/comments/questions will become intermingled with other DevOps issues/comments/questions?

    John,

I'll be changing the name/URL of this community to CA Mainframe DevOps. Endevor will be one of the product categories within that community. The content will be easily filtered by selecting that category from the left side of the main community page or the content tab.

And, because Endevor is the most active product in that new community, I expect that much of the content will be Endevor focused.

I would say most of the content in here is 'Endevor' and not 'DevOps', I feel this might get confusing and potentiall kill the existing Endevor Community?

Will we be able to filter our content feeds to show only Endevor related content?

Yes -- you can absolutely filter the content in the new community to only see the Endevor content -- which will remain the bulk of the content anyway.

that is a little concerning to me as well.  I am also part of the Workload community and it is hard to just get emailed information about CA7.  Usually I get email updates, and then because someone has not specified CA7 in the title or within the post, I then have to go open the whole update to see if I could be of help or if it concerns something that I am working on.

So I feel that it will be difficult to just get email updates regarding just Endevor?

This will turn out exactly the same as the workload automation community.   If someone doesn't put endeavor in their title or tag then there is NO way to know or filter.  You don't see everything unless you weed through all the emails or go ONLINE to look all the time by   "The content will be easily filtered by selecting that category from the left side of the main community page or the content tab."    as this only works online.    It is the problem we have now that I don't get all the ca7 questions because some people don't put ca7 in title or tag.   It is a NIGHTMARE

I understand the frustration and worry -- but I think we're going to see a different situation here, where Endevor is going to be the bulk of the content from the start and for the foreseeable future.

There are ways to get email alerts ONLY for the categories you want, by the way. Have you tried the RSS feed method?

Not sure, can you provide more information about using the RSS Feed Method.  What I get now are daily Updates, and following updates.  And with those Trending Now, most of the time I have to go into the actual post to see if is about CA7 or some other scheduling tool.  But with Endevor I do not, and it is my fear that collapsing it with DEVOPS the same will happen.

Phon: You can learn about the RSS feed method over in the Water Cooler: Community Hack - Following via RSS Feeds

You'd not want to set this up until AFTER I make all of the changes this week, probably

Please tell me how to opt out of this new onslaught of email. I would only like to see Endevor content....Thanks, Dana

Dana -- please excuse the last day or so. I discovered that while moving questions from one community to another (as in instances when a question is asked in the wrong community) doesn't send out emails, that's not the case for events and some other content types.

I'm done migrating content into this community, so you won't get any more of that onslaught.

If you want to see only Endevor posts, you can use this URL:

    https://communities.ca.com/community/ca-mainframe-devops/content?filterID=contentstatus%5Bpublished%5D~category%5Bca-endevor%5D

This is the same view as if you selected "CA Endevor" as a "category" or "product covered" from the left side of the overview or content tab.

You can bookmark the URL for easy future reference.

Please be sure to check off "CA Endevor" as a category when creating Endevor posts.  This will ensure your post is later displayed when selecting the "CA Endevor" category view.

    Lenn

In the effort to address John Dueckman's request for the 10 items of Endevor.

I went into the communities and couldn’t find CA Endevor.

I eventually found that it was absorbed into this new one.

I later found this Nov 14 'discussion' posting by you on this subject.

Yes I did miss your post about the change.

Unfortunately not all of us are on the site all the time.

I would think an email would have been good to send to all CA Endevor community members of the 'change of address', so to speak. I also thought I had the CA Endevor community part of my profile, so I would go directly to it.

I keep all the emails I get and couldn’t find one mentioning this change. So I am presuming one was not sent.

Not complaining just letting you know of being out of the loop.

Thanks for letting me know, Ron. I tried my best to reach as many people as I could -- but I will make sure that I do more in the coming weeks to get to people who maybe didn't see the notes I put out a few weeks ago.

Glad you found it now and are able to re-join the conversation!
