Harvest

Hello community members.

In the last three years, I had several CA SCM implementations, upgrades and migrations.
Now, I would like to hear your opinion and experiences about the recommended requirements for CA SCM implementations.

I will start...
As an example, in a previous client, we have a machine with a Xeon X5550 @ 2.67GHz and 4 cores with 32 GB RAM running Red Hat ES 5.4 64 bits.
This server has 350 active users and a peak of 45 concurrent connections, and it runs CA SCM smoothly.
Until now, this was the client with the more demanding environment.

As another example, I can refer the next client, which has the following Harvest r7.1 environment:
650 users
2000 groups
450 environments
450 repositories
HARVESTBLOB 59 GB
HARVESTINDEX 3 GB
HARVESTMETA 2 GB

What would you guys recommend as CA SCM r12 hardware requirements for this one?

The previous hardware setup is adequate for the new client which seems to have about
twice the users, so I would recommend -minserver=20 -maxserver=75 to accomodate
a concurrent user access of ~100 to 150. 32GB Ram is ok.
500Gb or 1TB hard diskspace minimum (SCSI or Sata III):
HARVESTBLOB 100 GB
HARVESTINDEX 20 GB
HARVESTMETA 20 GB

Be sure to have the customer schedule a weekly weekend maintenance period for
dropping the statistics and rebuilding the database indexes and finally rebooting
the Harvest broker machine.

The future Production machine is supposed to have 1TB disk space and 200GB RAM.

Nowadays client have -minserver=5 and -maxserver=195 but the port range is only 24 ports wide.
I already suggested a change.

I will discuss the other (good) advices with the client.
