    Hi,
Currently on V10, on the GUI,  I can hit F1 from any object or scripting function and I get a help popup on that topic.
    This I find very useful.

We are currently moving to V12 and still plan on using the GUI for now, moving to the AWI in time.

When I installed V12 I noticed that the documentation folder is now a lot smaller and when I hit F1 my default internet browser page appears and not the documentation I was expecting.

I did try to copy my old Documentation folder from V10 to my V12 folder structure but am getting the following error when I hit F1

    rt35d7psaowy.pnghttps://us.v-cdn.net/5019921/uploads/editor/5k/rt35d7psaowy.png" width="579">

Anyone with any idea what's going on here?
Have I downloaded an incomplete version of V12 Documentation?

    Thanks.
    John.

Harriet_Kim_1764 or Darren_Sniezak_40 would you be able to answer this question?

    Hi JohnO'Mullane ,

Starting with version 11.2 documentation is no longer available in .chm format :

"As of version 11.2 the help will be available in WebHelp and PDF format  only, the HTML help (file extension .chm), is discontinued. Webhelp will  also be the default for a new installation of the Automation Engine and the default format called, when using the F1 key."

    Taken from the release notes.

Another possibility is to link directly the context help to the online documentation as explained on this page

    Best regards,
    Antoine

    Hi Antoine_Sauteron
    Thanks for this.
I don't fully understand.  Are you saying that, for example,  I will no longer be able to hit F1 from my GUI while my cursor is on the PREP_PROCESS_VARA function and bring up the help notes for this function?

Or, do I just need to configure something differently so that I don't see this data in .chm format but a similar pdf or WebHelp window?

    John.

    Hi John,

    To be more precise:

    - In version 11.2 you will need to set a different location for the documentation path. Yours is pointing to "help.chm" which no longer exists in this version.

    rt35d7psaowy.png
If you're using v11.2 documentation you will need to adjust the <docu> tag in uc4config.xml, so it reads type="wh". Here's an example :
    <docu type="wh">C:/Automic/Documentation/V11/</docu>

    - As of version 12 we do not deliver the documentation as a separate component (although it may look like it). The component available for download is merely a page that will re-route you to the online documentation. Here's what should come up when opening the v12 'help.htm' page:

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,
    Antoine

More explanation on how to get the F1 context help to point directly to the online documentation can be found in this post : https://community.automic.com/discussion/6750/calling-the-online-context-help-with-f1

Harriet_Kim_1764 : unfortunately your method works for V11.2 and below, but not in v12. The documentation is no longer delivered as a full component in this version. When unzipping the v12 documentation component the "guides" folder only contains this page :

    mjwm5wg6ugpo.pnghttps://us.v-cdn.net/5019921/uploads/editor/i2/mjwm5wg6ugpo.png" width="1025">

Which suggests to go to the online documentation:

    iamybqodip41.pnghttps://us.v-cdn.net/5019921/uploads/editor/9u/iamybqodip41.png" width="1138">

Hence the necessity to have the help.html point directly to the online documentation.

    Best regards,
    Antoine

    Hi Antoine_Sauteron,

Thanks for the clarification.  I was adding on to your post to the customer in your 21 December 2016 response, in case there was anyone wanting to know how to do it in version 11.2.  Thanks for the information on version 12!  :)

The documentation exists only in english version as far as I can get it from the web site. And it is not defined in a sub-folder named English so the usual shortcuts are not working properly.

On another side, the PDF version is not provided. Useful for global scan and if you need to print some pages or send them to someone.

But the question is why do have the Documentation as a separate download from the global image ?? Always missed it when doing a download of the latest update of course.

    Hi Antoine_Sauteron

We have decided to move away from the Java User Inferface totally and get everyone to use the AWI.
What should users expect to see when they use this help?

    Hi JohnO'Mullane

Just like you noticed, clicking on 'Open Help' will redirect users to docs.automic.com, as so far the context sensitive help does not exist in AWI.

    Kind regards,
    Antoine

    Thanks.
Do you know if there is a YouTube video out there that gives the basics of the V12 AWI?

Sure there are these 2 videos :

Highlights of the Automic Web Interface v12 :

Exploring all five perspectives of the Automic Web Interface :

You may as well be interested in the "One Automation Foundations eLearning" course. It features basic usage of the Automic Web Interface in v12.

Thanks. I like these and would love to share with users.
However, the second one, "Exploring all five perspectives of the Automic Web Interface", the voice and video is out of sync from half way onwards.
Pity, it would have been a good one to give users a basic overview.

Do I need to open the .mp4 and run it or should the URL open the video on YouTube?

The url is actually a download link. It's a temporary 'workaround' until the video is uploaded on the YouTube channel.

    Hi JohnO'Mullane

I have asked for it to be done some time ago, and just sent a reminder to the relevant team.
If this should take too long, please feel free to upload it to a separate location if needed.

    Best regards,
    Antoine
