I know NSM Event Management is quite old, but:

It is still a great tool, and we could use it in a project.

I remember NSM needed to install some components on the SQL server.

Is this true for "Event Management Only" too? I yes I am afraid we won't be able to use it...

    Can someone suggest an alternative?

Tasks: On several servers, react on some DSM events and start commands/scripts. The rules should follow some logic.

One possibility is of course Windows' Task Schedules, but it is not as flexible as NSM EM.

DSM events are written to windows event logs.  A workload management tool such as CA Atomic has a log watcher to watch for the specific event.  It is overkill to install Atomic just for this function.  If you have other tools with similar capability you can use that.

If I remember correctly, it was just the Worldview/Network discovery that required the installed component on the SQL server.

Try running the CCS install and only select the EM components.

    Ok, I'll have a try.

I need of course the consider the availability of the tool in the future (and modern OS support).

    Additional question:

We do have UIM, and I was checking if using the ntevl probe is an option.

I have an old Win2008r2 as LAB DSM server. ITCM version is 14 SP2.

In Windows Event Log I do not see the DSM events in the application log. I do see them in the production server (2012r2).

Any idea why the events are not in the 2008 event log?

Use the ccnfcmda command line utility to check the Event Log destination.

I checked "itrm/common/eventlog -pn EventLogDest". It was 1.

I changed it to 2, now I see the events in Windows Application log.

On the production DM it works with the value of 1.

As the Lab server is very old, I don't want to inquiry too much...

    Thanks!

UIM ntevl probe can run a commands on event matches.

Not confortable as NSM EM, but it allows a central management.

    I follow this trail.

    Thank all for the inputs!
