I am trying to set up goup configuration, created proxy server and groups using xps explorer. But in the access gateway admin console, get this error message when trying to edit or create a group.

    Error:
Current CA Access Gateway Server should be the member while creating/editing Group

there doesn't seem to any documentation on how to link the existing SPS instance with a "proxy server" in xps. Is it based on agent name? i tried that didn't work. Tried servername, that didn't work either.

Yes, but that didn't help. So I manually added two proxy servers (there were none) using xps explorer using these intstructions: Group Configuration Settings Configuration - CA Single Sign-On - 12.52 SP1 - CA Technologies Documentation

And those show up in the SPS admin gui when I try to edit. However, the link identifying one  the two names in the group as the SPS instance that the admin gui is on.
