Is there a way to display a paragraph of text, i.e., instructions on a page layout?  Tool tips and hints are often not large enough to provide a full explanation.  It would be useful to be able to present fuller instructions right on the page.

"On a page" ?- would a HTML portlet be what you are looking for (if its a portlet-page).

If your text needs to be on an object-page, then this would help ; TIP : How To Put Any Dynamically Generated Value On A Clarity Object  (classic UI)

It's not really a portlet page.  An example would be a short paragraph for each field on the Risk Rating page explaining what High, Medium, and Low risks meant for each item (Objectives, Sponsorship, Funding, etc.).

For each attribute, there is a ‘hint’ and ‘tip’ feature.  “Hints” appear as text under each field.  “Tips” appear as pop-ups when hovering mouse over field.

For more than this, check LetzNav.  I’d like to see it packaged with CA PPM, for free.  We get Jaspersoft bundled in – why not LetzNav?

FYI, we use the hints and tooltips regularly.  They just don't have enough space for what we'd like to do.

You could always create a string field and make it read only or maybe a parameterized lookup if you need to add some formatting

We frequently use string fields when instructions or definitions are needed to improve data quality in our system. Below is a sample from our Risk object configuration that includes definitions for the different risk categories.

In the object layout, you can set the field as a Text Area and then define the width/height of the cell. When you create the string field, enter a default value, mark the field read-only, and populate null values with the default once the narrative has been agreed upon. Making a future change to the information displayed in read-only field can be tedious so make sure there is agreement on the final language and proof-read it BEFORE populating null values with the default.
