  • 1.  Best way to use Vitrual TIM's on production environment

    Posted May 07, 2018 10:18 AM

    Hello,

I need known best practices and best hardware requirement to install vm's TIM's on production environment.

I known that promiscuous mode to interfaces on virtual environment is not the best idea or dangerous.

    Thanks

    Hello Hallet,

Is possible that VM with TIM have more than one dedicated network card?

    Thanks for you response.

    JMertin  included

     Fernando:

As opposed to one card with multiple ports? If the traffic is unique from other card and the TIM is configured correctly, you should be able to. But you could also aggregate the traffic to come into one feed as well.

You can also set up TIM in a Docker conatiner as well. See Installing the TIM inside a Docker container

    Dear Community:

This is an awesome topic to weigh in on. Anyone else to discuss what they did to setup virtual TIMs?

    Thanks

    Hi Hal,

We have a client that can no longer grow in physical resources. However, in theory it has no limits to grow in a virtual scheme.

Your infrastructure area I request the requirements under this scheme that requires APM, for the case of the TIM we are in unknown territory, since our facilities have always considered physical components (TIM).

Today it has 4 TIM's with only one interface each one and, incorrectly, each interface is given the same mirrored traffic since production. It does not have hardware that can separate the traffic and order it to more than one interface and to the different times. It has been very difficult to convey to him that the good processing in the TIM does not depend only on the processing capacity of the network card. It has a very high percent to dropped packets.

    Thanks everyone to the responses

    Dear Fernando:

It sounds like you need to plan for a scalable and stable infrastructure. Our documentation is very clear that you need to have clean and filtered traffic. As you understand already, you will only get so far with the setup that you have.
