Hi Cira,

I'm not aware of any mechanism for highlighting a column in a grid portlet in the classic UI, but there several options for basic and conditional highlighting and other formatting options through Advanced Reporting with Ad Hoc Views and custom reports. You can find more information about this option here.

The only option to highlight a column in the grid is through the Configuration --> Layouts --> Options page, which Stephen and Venkitta already mentioned. There is no other ways that I am aware of. The list that you see over there are the only attributed which could be highlighted. That is the restriction.
