    August 29, 2018

To: CA IT Asset Manager (CA ITAM) - Software Asset Manager (SAM) Customers
From: The CA Technologies CA IT Asset Manager Product Team
Subject: General Availability Announcement for CA ITAM – Software Asset Manager 4.3.1 Capabilities

On behalf of CA Technologies, we appreciate your business and the opportunity to provide you with high-quality, innovative software and services. As part of our ongoing commitment to customer success, we regularly release updated versions of our products. Today, we are pleased to announce that CA ITAM - Software Asset Manager 4.3.1 capabilities are now available.

New Features for CA ITAM - Software Asset Manager 4.3.1 include:

Deep Links for Table View: Enables users to create deep links to prefiltered table views in the application. These links can be shared with users of the same application instance.

New Microsoft Application Server Metric Engine: This new metric engine Microsoft® Application Server calculates the license demand for the Microsoft products Exchange Server, Lync® Server, and SharePoint® Server.

Dashboard: Dashlets for Autofilter Results: Dashlets can now show the results of autofilters. Results can be displayed as tables, pie charts, or bar charts.

Dashboard: Dashlets for Compliance Results: Dashlets can now show the results of compliance calculations. Results are based on autofilters and can be displayed as tables, pie charts, or bar charts.

Multiple Dashboards: Users are now able to configure and use multiple dashboards per profile.

Re-harvesting Campaigns: Re-harvesting campaigns allow you to identify unused installations and notify users of those. To free up licenses, the identified installations can be removed automatically.

Support of Failover Scenarios: Metric engines now consider failover attributes during the demand calculation.

License Management for Service Providers: It is now possible to manage licenses for multiple external application instances from one central instance.

Downgrade Path Enhancements: There are now standard downgrade paths and custom downgrade paths available. Standard downgrade paths contain master catalog content and are read only for the customer. All customer created content is stored separately in custom paths. Custom paths can be created from scratch or by customizing a standard path. The application calculates the effective downgrade paths from these two sources.

Introduction of Parallel Processing: Certain application tasks now make use of parallel processing to enhance performance. They include database installation, database update, database migration, and the processing of the nightly cron job "refresh tmp tables."

Masking of Sensitive Data: It is now possible to mask sensitive personal data such as name or e-mail address in the demand and software inventory tables.

New Connectors: The following new standard connectors are available:

Micro Focus Universal CMDB 10.33: This connector enables the import of devices, device topologies, and software raw data based on the import preprocessor "ucmdb" into the application.

ServiceNow® versions Geneva, Helsinki, Istanbul, Jakarta: The existing connector has been improved and is now able to import devices and device relations managed with vCenter.

Microsoft License Statement MLS: This connector enables the import of contract and license information from Microsoft into the application.

Oracle® Review Lite: This connector enables the import of devices and software raw data reported by the Oracle Review Lite scripts version 15.1 or 17.2 into the application.

Microsoft Virtual Machine Manager VMM: This connector enables the import of devices and device relations from Microsoft Virtual Machine Manager VMM into the application.

ServiceNow: This connector now supports the Kingston version of ServiceNow.

Thats huge, thank you for the update, Michel!

Are there any how-to's for the new functionality available?

    I am particularly interested in

    • Deep Links for Table View
especially using deep links in Service Catalog
    • Re-harvesting Campaigns
      without metering in place
    • Support of Failover Scenarios
    • License Management for Service Providers
    • Masking of Sensitive Data

I've invesigated dashlets showing compliance data, like the below and posted my findings here:

    Cordially,
