  • 1.  Has anyone consolidated their Spectrum Spectro Servers from multiple standard landscapes to one huge landscape?

Hello, as you probably know, CA Spectrum 10.2 introduced the concept of huge landscapes, where a larger number of devices and models could be discovered in a single landscape vs. a standard landscape.  When we built out our Spectrum environment, which was before ver. 10.2 existed, we used multiple standard landscapes.  We are looking to combine them into a single huge landscape to consolidate multiple Spectro Servers into a single one without having to rediscover and remodel devices.  In other words, we want to use our existing databases and export/combine them into the new (huge) landscape.  We want to see if other Spectrum customers have done this.  We have spoken with our CA rep. and are exploring the option of hiring CA Professional Services.  I just wanted to post this message to learn of others' experience.  Thanks in advance.

    This is a good topic.

There is an upcoming webcast next week to share ideas also: https://communities.ca.com/events/4882-webcast-ca-spectrum-upgrade-path-september-6-2018-10-am-et

Thank you for the suggestion.  I have signed up for the WebEx as well.

We are going to be very interested in any discussion around moving from tradition to Huge Landscape.  We are going to have to plan this out thoroughly to minimize downtime, since it is our understanding that you can not mix traditional and Huge in one DSS.  We also have to assess how long it will take to load the models from a Modeling Gateway export and if it can even handle the load (we have experienced MGW loads that take many hours to complete).  We also have the added headache ACLs that limit access to many of the monitored devices, so setting up a duplicate Spectrum environment may be difficult.  So, a discussion around migrating to Huge Landscapes will be very helpful to us.
