I don't have any experience with creating Window install packages and was wondering if anyone has done anything with creating an unattended install for the 10.7 Workstation Client. I think it's bundled with InstallAnywhere, but I'm not finding any doc on creating config files to go with it.

Also wondering about patching it with the current Jar files. With the future direction to remove Java off our workstations and losing access to launch the Webstart JNLP, thinking I'll need to bundle an install of this Workstation & jar updates for users to pull in and have automatically installed on their desktops. If bundled this way, then I believe CA will license the Java for use and pack it in the workstation bundle.

There is an unattended installation option, but it's really not necessary since this is a Java application and you can deploy it once, zip/compress it, and share it with others.

Future versions of APM will not require the use of the client as most of that functionality is moved into Team Center.

Yes, CA/Broadcom will continue to deliver Java with our products. An announcement has already been made about this some time ago when Oracle announced their plans for Java.

    Hello Keith,

You might want to refer to the below links:

    1) About Workstation silent installation:

    2) About patching the workstation instance, you will have to find a way to automate the installation of latest hotfixes

Fyi, we have recently enhance the Hotfix (HF) mechanism so you can now pass the EM or Workstation home directory as an argument, hopefully this will help you automate the installation.

Another enhancement for HF is that the installation process takes few seconds compare to  30 or 40 minutes like in the past.  Here is a KB with the list of  all 10.7 HF, as of today, our latest 10.7 hotfix is #25
