Hello All
We are currently on 15.3. Is it possible to upgrade directly to 15.5.1 or do we have to upgrade to 15.4 and then to 15.5.1?
Thanks in Advance
Dhivya
Hi Dhivya
You can upgrade directly from Clarity 15.3 to 15.5.1. Here is a link to the OP manual:
Clarity PPM 15.5.1 Change Impact and Upgrade - CA PPM - 15.5.1 - CA Technologies Documentation
Check sections Supported Upgrade paths.
Hope this helps -Nika
Thanks Nika for the help.
Hi Dhivya,
You can still upgrade however due to a bug you might encounter an issue and i would recommend to go to 15.5 and then to 15.5.1. See the bug details here When upgrading to 15.5 Service Pack 1 from a release prior to 15.5, the upgrade will fail
Thanks Suman for the heads up and the work around.
If you are SAAS customer we should be be able to take care of this you need not worry about it.
Regards
Suman Pramanik
I don't think that's correct...if you look at the top of the same document Clarity PPM 15.5.1 Change Impact and Upgrade - CA PPM - 15.5.1 - CA Technologies Documentation , it says you CANNOT upgrade directly to 15.5.1 because of an incompatibility of the Java version---15.5.1 requires Java 11. It gives the workaround mentioned in another reply, upgrade to 15.0 while Java 8 is still installed, then switch to Java 11 and upgrade to 15.5.1.
Hi Andy
Ideally we would love to upgrade but was due to bug and we found that after the version was released
Thanks Andy. I was looking at that as well, as we are planning the move.
SumanPramanik - we are on SaaS, is it possible to set up some time with you to talk through the issues?
Sure drop me an email at Suman.Pramanik@broadcom.com and will be happy to have a chat.
Andy,
The snippet above was added when we found the issue with Java 11, and are successfully using the workaround:
https://comm.support.ca.com/kb/when-upgrading-to-15-5-service-pack-1-from-a-release-prior-to-15-5-0-the-upgrade-will-fail/KB000123130
dshyam for SAAS we are taking care of this issue and you can upgrade to 15.5.1. We recommend you go on the latest version. I am sure Suman will agree when you speak.
Hi Nika, Suman, and Team,
In the documentation, we still cover the two options, A or B as you advised last month.
(Thank you! Please let us know if any new changes need to be made here.)
Thank you Damon- we may be needing to rephrase the paragraph on top, let's discuss it offline.
