Linux Enterprise Manager Quick Install

Blog Post created by AaronArmagost Employee on Aug 27, 2014

Hello Everyone!

I wanted to share my quick install notes on installing Enterprise Manager (r12.8) on Linux.

On 64bit Linux systems the following 32bit libraries are required.
  • compat-libstdc++-33.i686
  • libstdc++.i686
  • libSM.i686
  • pam.i686
  • ncurses-libs.i686
  • libSM.i686
  • libXext.i686
  • libXp.i686
  • libXt.i686
Note: RPMBuild is required as well.
You will need to have a SQL or Oracle database setup before the install. Also, an AD connection ready if you want to use that user store.
(Mount or extract the ISOs)
1. copy jboss-4.2.3.GA.zip to /opt/
'unzip jboss-4.2.3.GA.zip' to decompress in this location.
2. copy jdk-7u21-linux-x64.rpm to /tmp
rpm -i jdk-7u21-linux-x64.rpm
3. set /etc/profile for the following:
# JAVA for ControlMinder r12.8
JAVA_HOME=/usr/java/jdk1.7.0_21/
export JAVA_HOME
PATH=/usr/java/jdk1.7.0_21/bin/:$PATH
export PATH
# Jboss to PATH
PATH=/opt/jboss-4.2.3.GA/bin/:$PATH
export PATH

# ControlMinder Path
PATH=/opt/CA/AccessControlServer/APMS/AccessControl/bin:$PATH
export PATH
4. Modify Jboss for the "1000" port default:
vi /opt/jboss-4.2.3.GA/server/default/conf/jboss-service.xml
<attribute name="Port">1099</attribute>
to
<attribute name="Port">11099</attribute>
vi /opt/jboss-4.2.3.GA/server/default/conf/jboss-minimal.xml

<attribute name="Port">1099</attribute>
to
<attribute name="Port">11099</attribute>
vi /opt/jboss-4.2.3.GA/server/default/deploy/jboss-web.deployer/server.xml
<Connector port="8080" address="${jboss.bind.address}"...
to
<Connector port="18080" address="${jboss.bind.address}"
<Connector port="8443" protocol="HTTP/1.1" SSLEnabled="true"
to
<Connector port="18443" protocol="HTTP/1.1" SSLEnabled="true"
5. ulimit -n 10000

6. run 'install_EntM.bin -i console -DLICENSE_KEYWORD=Proceed'  to start the Enterprise Manager install.
I have also attached a script created to check for installed libraries as well as to verify that seos.ini and Tibco files are not present on the system.
Thanks,
