[Part 2 of 5]

Dear Customers,

In this episode, we are going to continue from where we left. In episode 1, we talked about the discovery feature. At the end of a discovery, we were able to discover our EM Cluster, the cluster that we want to upgrade to the latest version to.

In this episode, we are going to look at the 'pre-upgrade check' feature.

Feature name

Pre-upgrade check

Scenario

We just had a discovered cluster, the cluster that we want to upgrade now.

What does this feature do?

It performs the following checks before the upgrade is kicked off

  • No of live agents
  • No of live metrics
  • No of historical metrics
  • Disk space check on each of the hosts that make up the cluster

How to use it?

  • Invoke the 'upgrade wizard' by clicking on the 'upgrade' button

You would see a screen like this

  • Next click on 'Check'. Upon clicking on Check, you would be prompted for the username and password of the host that has the MoM installed on it

  • Enter the credentials and click on Check

Once the checks are complete, you would see a screen that looks like this

As you notice, we now have these information:

  • No of agents connected to the cluster
  • No of live metrics
  • No of historical metrics
  • Disk space check done on all the hosts that make up the cluster.

Yes, you are absolutely right if you guessed it! We are then going to use some of the data that we gathered pre-upgrade to compare it with the data we gather once the upgrade is complete.
