Hello! I want to start using the CA Communities and decided I should do a Blog as well. I will see how often I can get out here and post some commentary.
I have been working at CA for close to 4 years, on CA Datacom SQL. Prior to that, I worked at BMC Software in Austin on the Recovery Manager for DB2 product. Before joining BMC, I worked for IBM in NY (Kingston and Endicott) in several different areas, including VM/CP, SEPP FORTRAN compiler and creating and teaching a class on VM/CP and CMS. I entered the US Marine Corps out of High School working as an Avionics Technician on the A6-E bomber, left as an E-5 (Sergeant) and then attended SUNY Oswego to get my degree in Computer Science.
I have two grown children, both married, and one grand-daughter who is 10 months old. My daughter is a counselor and my son is Art Director for a magazine. My son-in-law is a Middle School coach and teacher, and my daughter-in-law is finishing up her Master's in Speech and Language Pathology. My wife Johanna works in school administration. She currently is Project Director for a Texas ACE Project Grant where she oversees programs at 7 different campuses.
Outside of work, I enjoy riding motorcycles, working on our house, reading and doing family activities. I volunteer as a virtual mentor to an Elementary and Middle School program - we are currently doing a series on the Raspberry Pi. I am trying to get more involved in flight and would ultimately like to get my Sport Pilot's license, rated for Gyroplane. Unfortunately, that has been progressing very slowly!
Well, enough about me. I look forward to getting more involved in this community. I have really enjoyed meeting customers during this week at the CADRE Technical Conference - it makes such an impact to hear how Datacom is helping to solve problems for them and their companies. Thanks for listening.
