Automatic DE startup on Linux

Blog Post created by panni04 Employee on Sep 27, 2017

Like many services that startup automatically, you can now start up CA Workload Automation DE (DE) on boot or reboot.  The DE install comes with shell script call unix_service.sh, located it in <DE_install_dir>/bin.

The usage is simple:

CA Workload Automation DE service creation script. This script will create/remove the unix service for DE server

USAGE:

unix_service.sh -help|-create|-remove <service_name> <user_name> <service_startup_mode>

Navigate to the <DE_install_dir>/bin and run the script.  Here is an example

[root@de_box bin]# ./unix_service.sh -create de_r12 root automatic

Creating service de_r12

Created symlink from /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/de_r12.service to /usr/lib/systemd/system/de_r12.service.

The above parameters explained:

-create       To create symlink

de_r12        Give any name that you want for DE service.

root             Actual user that will start the service.  It can root or a user

automatic   Modes to choose from: manual or automatic.  Automatic will start the service on reboots

The unix_service.sh is only for Linux OS.  It will add the service on RHEL, Cent OS, SUSE and Oracle Enterprise Linux distros.
