Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR)

What's New

  • Upcoming Webinar!

When it comes to solving endpoint challenges, one of the hardest problems is staying up-to-date on the right tools to defend against evolving threats.  Harder yet, is unifying them into one seamless solution.  For many CISOs, purchase decisions become an endless cycle of weighing costs against critical features and people required to operate them.  In the end, there are always trade-offs, and often full protection is not achieved.

Join us for this webinar on June 25th at 9am PT/12noon ET, where our guest speaker and Forrester Senior Analyst Chris Sherman will engage in a lively discussion with Domingo Guerra, Symantec Head of Endpoint Security GTM, and Archana Rajan, Symantec Head of Endpoint Security Product Management.  They will discuss what’s required for the best endpoint protection today.

    You will learn more about:

    • The latest trends and challenges of addressing threats and attacks on endpoints
    • What’s necessary to support an at-home workforce in the new post-Covid world and why companies are having a hard time finding and funding it
    • How to evaluate solutions from multiple vendors in the marketplace, while going beyond a feature comparison and taking into account total cost of ownership
    • How avoid compromising cost or performance  as you try to build the strongest end-to-end endpoint solution possible

    • Chris Sherman, Senior Analyst, Forrester
    • Domingo Guerra, Head of Endpoint Security GTM, Symantec Enterprise Division
    • Archana Rajan, Head of Endpoint Security Product Management, Symantec Enterprise Division

  • Symantec EDR Feature Migration: Prepare for the Change Now

With the acquisition now complete, we have been able to fast track changes in our EDR portfolio, and we would like to share what is happening with you. Very soon we will begin consolidating consoles and agents within our EDR portfolio. Cloud and on-premises functions that currently are separate, now will reside on Symantec Integrated Cyber Defense Manager (ICDm) or the EDR appliance. Going forward, you will be able to utilize all EDR functionality via a single agent.

    What this means for you

There are several items associated with these changes that we would like to bring to your attention, and the steps you need to take will depend on your specific entitlement(s).

    • Symantec EDR customers can migrate to Symantec Endpoint Security Complete (SESC) to replace EDR cloud functionality at no additional license cost
    • To use the functionality in SESC, you will need to install Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) 14.2 or newer, if you do not already have it
    • Agentless support no longer is available, and your new SESC entitlement will include everything you need to operate SEDR
    • If you are using the Endpoint Detection and Response Cloud (EDRC) collection agent for Mac OS, Linux or Windows, you will need to replace the Collection Service Agent (CSA) with a SEP agent.

Please note that if you are only using the on-premises EDR appliance, there will be no changes to your functionality, and regular upgrades will continue as part of your maintenance schedule. The above points relate only to your use of the SEDR Cloud console.

What you need to do next

You may begin your migration in early July and finish by late September, 2020. Please provide your details in the link below on who from your organization should receive provisioning details. Your migration will need to be complete by COB PST on Oct.16, 2020. After that time, no changes can be made, and no data can be viewed. Following the mid-October date, all stored data from the legacy cloud console will be securely destroyed, and the features will be shut down by Oct. 31.
