Tweets within Clarity?

While working within Clarity the other day I looked at the notification portlets and wondered if I could get Twitter feeds from Sir Richard Branson and Christ Hackett from CA within Clarity below the notifications portlet. (Chris, I hope it is fine with you if I think of your tweets in the same thought as I think of Sir Richard’s.)

So how do we get Twitter feeds through Clarity?

For those who just want to play, I have already created a list that follows @CA_Community and @CAClarity and all you need to get going is 2 minutes. You don’t even need a Twitter account to run the test.

1. Create a HTML Portlet
Call it: Twitter within CA Clarity PPM.

2. Copy and paste the following code

<p>
<a class="twitter-timeline" href="https://twitter.com/annitek/ca-clarity-twitter-list" data-widget-id="355347736960303105">Tweets from @annitek/ca-clarity-twitter-list</a>
<script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0],p=/^http:/.test(d.location)?'http':'https';if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=p+"://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");</script>
</p>

3. After pasting the code, click preview. If you only see the hyperlink (happened to me) and not the feeds, just press the link and then hit back button and you shall see the feeds from Twitter.

4. Go to your overview General Page and include this Portlet on the right hand side below the notifications Portlets and that is it. The feeds should be visible under the notifications portlet.

Now you are all set to decide if you want to let Social Media into your world of Clarity. If you do decide to let it in, you will never miss any tweets from Michael Lester or Chris Hackett. You can also create your own Twitter handle and share corporate feeds right within Clarity with your end users.

I could have included the Twitter handles for the folks mentioned in this post, but I felt it would be best if, other than Sir Branson (@richardbranson), they gave them to you themselves.

Enjoy,
Prominder
