Add New Task/Activity to All Projects

Hello Friends,
This is my first post to this message board. Need some help from you guys..

We have to add a default task and activity (underneath the task) to all projects(Active or Inactive) that don't have that task (and activity). Details for the tast (and activity) is given below.

On the task level:
task name: SUPPORT
task id: 08_SUPPORT
start date: same as project start date
end date: same as project end date

On the activity level (under 08_SUPPORT) :
activity name: SUPPORT
activity id: 08_SUPPORT_A
start date: same as project start date
end date: same as project end date

For New Projects:
We are all set as we would add this task to Project Template. So when a new Project is added this activity would be there.

For EXISTING Projects:
Our plan is to follow the approach below.
a) write a GEL script which will loop through all the projects
b) XOG out the Project
c) Add task (and activity) to the project.
d) XOG the Project back in.

If anybody has anything already implemented like this, please help. If you have any better approach please let know that too.
