Reading XML with Apply_Xpath operator

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if the Apply_Xpath operator requires an XML file with a specific format because I am running into an issue when running my process.

I am using PAM 4.1 and the process includes a start, apply_xpath, stopSuccess, and stopFailure. In my Apply_Xpath operator, I am using InputFileName as input source and the following for XMLInputFile: "C:\\Path\\toXML\\tmp.xml".

The xml looks like the following:
<reservation>

<request_id></request_id>

<hostname>hellowworld</hostname>
</reservation>
I also added an Additional Extracted Data with //hostname for the XPath expression, hname for Dataset variable, and String for Type.

When I run the process I am getting the following error:

"Apply_Xpath_1 is failed" with the reason as "Invalid XML Extraction File"

I'm not quite sure what is wrong with my process, that is why I'm wondering if I needed the XML to have a specific format for example with SOAP-Envelope, SOAP-header, etc... tags at the beginning. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Thang
