CA Tuesday Tip: WA DE (dSeires) less than minute delay or submission

Discussion created by panni04 Employee on Sep 17, 2013
In CA Workload Automation DE, users can define a delay in submission in the job definition. The delay has to be in minute increments and cannot be defined in seconds.
There may be situations where users want to delay submission by few seconds between two jobs. This can be achieved by inserting a time job between the two jobs. The inserted job can run a sleep or pause command. In Unix/Linux systems sleep can be defined this way:
sleep 5
This will suspend the execution for 5 seconds. Increment time in seconds.
In Windows, there is no built-in equivalent of 'sleep'. Users can use the following command to get the same results.
ping -n 1 -w 10000 > null
Set the ping to an un-reachable host and define -w as time to wait. Increment the -w parameter in milliseconds (1000 ms = 1 sec)
