250 Investment limit of v13.2 Portfolios - How do I get around this limit?

We are at the tail end of a new v13.2 deployment. We are currently on v12.1.1. We found in UAT and were notified by CA that there is a limit on portfolio size of 250 investments. We have several functional area (department) portfolios that do not exceed 250 projects. However, if you sum those portfolios, the parent portfolio will have between 600 and 1000 projects. Have any of the v13.2 users been able to develop a work-around on this limitation? In v12.1, we currently have a central portfolio that we export into Excel and perform our resource and portfolio metrics analysis on. I was hoping to the use the new Waterline feature with Plans to analyze a overall portfolio to see where tradeoffs can be made. I'm being told by CA that this can't be done on portfolios exceeding 250 investments. I don't think we are the only company that has more than 250 projects in a portfolio. Any help would be very useful. This could be a show-stopper for us.
