Year-end time reporting

We have time reporting periods set up on a weekly basis, Sunday thru Saturday.  The "first day of work week" value is set to Sunday.  All weekly time slices begin on a Sunday.  Reporting works fine for all weeks except the last week of a calendar year which is set up as an exception.

When the last week of the year ends before Saturday, we have a short week, followed by another short week for the first week of the new year.  For example, for the 2013 calendar year end, the last time reporting period is set up beginning on Sunday, December 29, 2013 and ending on Tuesday, December 31, 2013.  The first time reporting period for 2014 is set up beginning on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 ending on Saturday, January 4, 2014.  These two "short" weeks do not adhere to the other weeks of the year that are Sunday thru Saturday.  We do this to interface time data to another application that requires time and timesheet approvals at the calendar year-end.

Because of the short weeks, reports that print daily hours, such as the "Resource Time Review by Manager" report do not print daily hours in the correct columns, if one of the short weeks is the first week selected to print.  Is there anything we can do to eliminate this problem?  Have other customers found a way around this situation?
