  • 1.  Upgrade to V13.3

    Posted Feb 20, 2014 05:00 AM

    Hello All,

We are planning to upgrade our current clarity environment from "v13.0.1 patch 6" to "v13.3".

Please, share your experiences and issues faced during upgrade to v13.3. So, we can also prepare for those issue in advance.

Also, we would like to know which upgrade process we should prefer:

    1) Direct installation of v13.3 or

    2) Step up upgrade i.e. 13.0 to 13.1 , 13.1 to 13.2 and finally 13.2 to 13.3

    Thank you...

Firstly if the supported upgrade paths includes

CA Clarity PPM Version 13.0 or Service Packs
    Supported patch levels:
    –  13.0.1.1 through 13.0.1.8

direct upgrade for you is supported.

After having completed recently an upgrade to v13.3 from 12.1.3 and having been stuck at 1.30 leve for a while - see

    https://communities.ca.com/web/ca-clarity-global-user-community/message-board/-/message_boards/message/108720991?p_p_auth=lALiBn3n&#p_19

I should go with direct update to v13.3.

That is because if there are no issues it will be simpler and faster and go smooth. If there are issues they are likely to come up in 13.0 to 13.1  step.

The upgrade to v13.3 will go in internal steps anyway.

The best option would to copy your system to a test environment and test the upgrade there and not be time stressed for the upgrade to be successfully completed and not have adequate time to solve any issues.

    Thanks Martti,

We were also planning to first try direct upgrade v13.3 in our test environment and if any issues were encountered, then step up approach will be taken.

    Thanks,

    Pragya Singh

The way I see it you wil encounter the same issues in your upgrade reardless if you go step wise or in one go.

In fact they are the same just that in one go the system makes some of the steps which the user must make in the stepwise approach (and go wrong)
