Database Export Data - Issue

This is a Database-funcitonality related question, but I'm putting it here since most of you would have come across a similar situation.

We're using MS SQL Server 2008 R2 Database, and we have SRM_Resources unique_name fields which contain values like '00012', '00432', '00009' etc.

While doing extracts, when we 'Copy with headers' from the query result set, and paste it in Excel, we see that the unique_name fields (for the above examples) get populated as '12', '432', '9' respectively.

This is dangerous, since we're doing a vlookup and other activities on this extract which has over 5000 rows.

I have used the Import Wizard, but it is a tedious process. I have also used the paste special option in Excel, but it does not work.

Is there a workaround for this?

Paritosh
