Can anyone explain me about PMO Accelerator? means why it is used with Clarity and what is the advantage of using it..
is there any additonal cost required to use this add-in with Carity?
I am not aware of any cost.
The main benefit is that it provides some portlets which may be sueful for you.
Also the Clarity reporting solutions build upon PMO accelerator for those versions where it is available.
If you have a test system you can also install the sample data for PMO. Don't install that for production.
Thank you every one for the responses.
How can we confirm that PMO accelerator is not installed in our current clarity setup?
Check the cmn_install_history table from database or check under administration --> addins to see if you have Accelerator: Program Management Office
Hi Suman, Martti
Thank you for the information.
We have checked and found that , it is not installed in our application. We only have "system: clarity content" in the add-in section.
I was going through the product guide and found that CA also provides one sample data for PMO accelerator to do the analysis before going for prodcution or any environment which has user data. It was also written that this sample should be first installed in the environement which does not have any user data beacuse this installation will modify the current data to showcase the features that comes with it.
Do you have some more information about this sample data and is it really required to first install this and test or we can do the direct installtion
of PMO in our development environment and start the testing?
Also, we right now working on the upgrade to 13.3 so it will be good move to do both the instaltion and upgrade at the same time?
The sample data is definitely not necessary and further should not be installed on a production system.
The sample data is just a sample of data which allows you to see the functionality and the functionality in the PMO accelerator.
It contains a few resources, roles, projects etc financially enabled. With that you can get pages and portlet populated instead of just blank pages. Then it is easier to see and understand the use of the PMO items.
You don't need any sample data to install PMO, you can directly install the accelerator pack and test.
If we install PMO accelerator in test environment and after few testing does not want to go further with PMO. Then, Is it possible to un-install it from test environment?
or refreshing the application from other environments backup will remove the PMO installation?
If you check the PMO Accelerator Release Notes, you can see the following lines:-
"As a best practice, we recommend you back up the existing CA Clarity PPM installation directory and database before installing the add-in.
Important! Back up your CA Clarity PPM installation before installing this add-in so that you can restore the application to the prior version, if necessary.Once you have installed the add-in, you cannot uninstall it."
So I guess the only way back is a DB refresh using the PROD DB.
So, only doing database refresh will work or we should plan for application (clarity_home) backup?
If your question is how to go back, then I guess doing the DB restore will suffice. You can confirm this yourself by going to Administration>>Addins to check for the absence of "Accelerator: Program Management Office". If you cant find it there, I think you are good.
The fact that CA is recommending a backup of the Clarity folder hints that the installation might be adding/changing files in your clarity_home folder too. So if the DB refresh alone does'nt work for you, you can try restoring the clarity_home folder that you backed up before PMO installation. And that will make it look as if the PMO installation never even happened.
As a best practice please backup the Clarity folder strucure and the database prior to installing the PMO.
