I am interested to see what everyone was doing.
Do you point to CA/iTKO license server or do you run a local license server? and why?
This is mainly to verify and control your user access with ca licence server. This will give few options of :-
for example :- You have 100 registry and 100 vse licenses,1000 worstation licenses. If all are consumed by users in you organization, it is quite difficult for you to find out where to get new? So, you can do force checkin, and remove unnecessary checked in entry from licence server.
CA Consultant can provide more info on that, but it is good to have a local licence server :)
we have network restriction, we need to have local licence server in our intranet and that local license server is only talking to ca lisa licence server over internet.
Local Intranet | Local Intranet/Open Internet | Open Internet
Your Lisa Workstation/Server ==> | Local Licence Server ==> | Ca Licence Server
Thanks VJ, do you get more control over your users by using a local server? I recall there being something you can set in the Registry to ensure your licenses aren't used without your consent. Given licenses are stored in a file, it wouldn't be too hard to transfer them. Or does your server just act as a gateway to check in and out licenses to CA?
Thanks, that's exactly what I wanted to confirm if anyone has done.
Appreciate you sharing your experiences :)
