Can anyone provide the steps to setup local licensing server.
Please try below instructions:
Uninstall and delete all files in the install directory of the local license server (specifically the jboss folder) for all platforms. Delete the jboss folder in the $INSTALL_DIR$\jboss\server\default\log, where $INSTALL_DIR$ is the directory the license server is installed. For example: C:\Program Files\itko-license-server\jboss .
Windows - After downloading, double-click itko-license-server_windows_2_1_1.exe
Mac OS X - After downloading mount the disk image, double click itko-license-server Installer.app
Requires Mac OS X 10.0 or later and JDK 1.6
Linux/Unix - After downloading run itko-license-server_unix_2_1_1.sh
You need to install a Java 1.6 virtual machine. You can download one from Sun's Java web site.
Download the appropriate installer for the platform that you are running. Before running the installer, create an empty directory to hold the license files. This can be anywhere as long as the license server can read it. C:\itko-licenses is a popular choice on Windows. Once the directory has been created, run the installer.
The license server will not function correctly if the license directory specified above does NOT exist or is not readable.
During installation you will be prompted for:
Once you have successfully completed the install, you should start the web server:
If you installed as a service then you can start the service using the service admin tool of the platform you are on. On Windows the service installs but does not start until the user manually starts the service or windows is restarted.
If you did not install as a service run the start-windows.bat, start-osx.command or start-unix-linux.sh scripts in the itko-license-server directory (the name will match what you selected in 1 above).
Once the web server and application is running you can access http://localhost:8081/laf using a web browser. You will be prompted for an id/password. The id is admin, the password is admin2007. The browser will display the configuration settings for iTKO license server home, iTKO license server config exec and the Magic String of the machine that the local server will use to validate the license.
Please note that at this point you should have the server up and running, but you do not have any license files, so you cannot test running LISA against it. Please send firstname.lastname@example.org an email with the Magic String of the server that you are testing and we will send you licenses with the appropriate Magic String setting to test.
Once you receive your license(s), place them in the directory you designated during install. Now restart the web server or service. Pull up http://localhost:8081/laf again using a web browser. Now it will contain the settings information, as before, and it will have a list of the licenses available on this server. If you do not see any licenses under Licenses Loaded: then the licenses are not loading correctly. You will need to resolve the problem before you continue. See Debugging the local license server for more.
If the local license server will not start, or run correctly, check the log files. Log files will be at $INSTALL_DIR$\jboss\server\default\log, where $INSTALL_DIR$ is the directory the license server is installed. For example: C:\Program Files\itko-license-server\jboss\server\default\log. The server.log file will be the most helpful file to send to support when debugging issues.
Thanks & Regards,
Detailed instructions in the attachment.
Will try it.
I am not able to proceed with the credential provided in document (admin/admin2007).
Please let me know the details for working credentials.
This can happen if the directory specified to hold the license files during installation is not readable or does not exist. The server may indicate that the username and/or password is invalid or throw an exception when attempting to log into the server. To verify this is the problem, check server.log for the following error: Cannot find the directory named C:/Documents and Settings/john/itko-license-server-home designated by the property in the system properties named: itko-license-server-home.If this is the case, shut down the server, and check the home directory specified by the property itko-license-server-home in the file $INSTALL_DIR$/jboss/server/default/deploy/properties-service.xml.
Then correct the issue with the directory with one of the following solutions:
If the directory does not exist, create the specified directory.
If the directory exists, correct permissions on the directory or correct any access issues the server may be having with that directory.
If the directory specified was not the correct directory, change the property itko-license-server-home=C:/Documents and Settings/john/itko-license-server-home in the file $INSTALL_DIR$/jboss/server/default/deploy/properties-service.xml to designate the correct directory.
Let us know if this resolved the issue.
Above mentioned issue was resolved. Thanks.
We have been provided with list of licenses. But we dont have lic.xml file.
I guess we need to place that lic.xml file inside the lisalicense directory.
Can you suggest how to obtain lic.xml file
lisalic.xml is provided as attachment with the license email you receive from the CA GSC team. You can contact CA GSC team for more details and any issues.
I'm using LISA 7.5.2 and I have configured the local license server as per the instructions provided in the Local License server pdf on windows server 2008. I could able to open the license manager but in the browser window I see this property itko-license-server-config-exec =place mac config exec here..what does this mean?
Secondly I went to local.properties file of the LISA installation and modified the license server property with http://localhost:8088/ as 8081 is already used by a different service in my server. I have only the devtestlic.xml which I'm using in the local license server. but when I try to open the registry it says "not licensed for lisa registry"..could you please assist where I'm doing wrong.
I'm not changing the domain, userid and password details in the local.properties file as I don't have the info neither in the license file nor in the devtestlic.xml . Do we need to provide this info as well along side the server property in the local.license file because the whole idea for having the local license server is to validate the license offline and as per my configuration ,when LISA looks in the local.properities file it will have the local license server IP and port and should get the license validated from there right.
Is the devtestlic.xml is valid for only LISA 8 and for LISA 7.5.2 do we need to have a different license file. If this is the case could you please guide me to whom I need to write to get the required details plz.
Thanks in advance!!
