Resource Calendar and Tracking Time Off

Good Morning Everyone,

When using the Resource Calendar to mark off non work days, do you still allocate resources for time off or do you use 0% allocation for time off which is considered unplanned at times. We use Other Work for time off files and we have to track it because those actuals feed into the time and attendance system. Should we use allocation for the files and resource calendar or is that sort of double dipping in a since or go with not allocating and use the 0% along with the resource calendar which will really give you the correct capacity for a resource?
