From CA Workflow to IT PAM

Hi, everyone! My company is planning a major upgrade in the Service Catalog from r11 to 12.6, and as part of the upgrade, to move from CA Workflow to ITPAM for the workflow processes.

I'm at the point where I can write an IT PAM workflow and trigger it with a SC event. What I am currently looking for is the best approach to the conversion. Are there different performance considerations for CA Workflow processes, as compared to IT PAM? Have other people gone through this conversion--what lessons have you learned?

As an example -- the Catalog administrator mentioned at a meeting a few days ago, that a given CA Workflow needed to keep the amount of data associated with it to a minimum. Also, out of concern for performance issues, a workflow basically performs one step in the request process, and then quits, rather than sitting around waiting for a user-generated event. (Such as when a manager 'approves' a request.)
