Tracking a users department history

Good morning,

I'm looking for any suggestions that others may have to a particular need we have. We have users assigned to a Department OBS and during the year they may move from one department to another. The problem is that when we update their location in the Department OBS we lose sight of the time that they book in the original OBS.

To compensate for this we have taken the Input Type Code field on the Timesheet and use it to store their current OBS. This works very well but we have now lost the ability to qualify the type of work being done as per the original intention of the Input Type Code.

My question is how others have accomplished tracking department history for users and the time that they have entered?
